Shied The shield is the central shape on a coat of arms. It is where the colours and symbols that make up the coat of arms are placed. Any elements that surround it are optional. The shield can take on different shapes.	Wow! Design of shield is symmetrical horizontally and vertically.	Acceptable Design of shield has symmetry, and needs a bit of closer inspection to small areas of concern.	Needs Improvement The design could use some work and TLC, but there is one.	Poor This shield won't hold up to verbal or physical abuse. No time or effort put forth. MUCH.NEEDED.WORK.
Crest The crest and wreath go at the top of the coat of arms. It pays tribute to decoration knights wore on top of their helmets to look taller and more imposing. It have meaning and significance to the person or family the coat of arms belongs to.	Wow! Very neat and clean.	Acceptable Some minor mistakes are visible.	Needs Improvement Messy	Poor
Charge The charge is the (main) picture(s) in the center of the shield. (See the symbols page for choices and their meanings).	Wow! Charge is well thought out and consistent with overall themes. Technically executed well.	Acceptable Charge is well planned well and design, albeit for a few minor technical issues. (line work, color work, shape, etc)	Needs Improvement Charge and technical execution of design could use work. Evidence is there of work.	Poor No evidence of Charge or time put into technique of design.
Color Students can reference page 4 for color themes associated with certain colors, but also not limited to that. Color choices used fit the theme of crest; attractive.	Acceptable Colors used, but has minor inconsistencies not lining up with theme.	Needs Improvement Colors are used, but there are some inconsistencies.	Poor What color or color doesn't make sense? None was used in the design.
Moto A short inspirational phrase or series of words. The motto usually appears on a scroll below the shield. Mottos are often written in Latin, but can be in any language. Use of Text is needed. If the text is on a non-linear line, a path will need to be used.	Wow! Choice of font fits the design. Evenly spaced and centered.	Acceptable Choice of font fits the design, but is off-centered.	Needs Improvement Choice of font doesn't work and is not centered.	Poor Not font or motto used, nor is it centered to overall design.

Creativity	Wow! Researched and used illustrations and symbols that reflect family/self interests. Well planned and thought out.	Acceptable The research is there and illustration & symbols used reflect it. Some minor tweaks need addressing.	Needs Improvement The creativity is sparse and needs some TLC.	Poor Did not add any details to crest. In the end, "Uhm wat?!"
Project Deadline	Wow! Project finished and turned in on time.	Acceptable Project finished but submitted late.	Needs Improvement Projects needs work and was submitted late.	Poor Project reflects work and time not used wisely or nothing turned in.
