From Antebellum to Reconstruction 
One objective for your learning this year is that you understand the difference between the Antebellum, Civil War, and Reconstruction time periods. To simplify this process I would like for you to draw three separate pictures of plantation houses. Each house should represent the look they would have had during the time period being depicted. Remember our movie, Gone with the Wind, what did the plantation house look like at the Bar-B-Que? What did it look like when Scarlet returned after Sherman burned Atlanta? What did it look like after she had her daughter? Lastly, write a paragraph for each picture describing how it differed from the others

The student should attempt to use proper grammar in their paragraphs, such as spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.

The student used proper grammar with regard to spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.

The student had minor problems with regard to grammar. For example, they may have only done two of the three requirements for grammar.
Poor

The student's grammar was lacking. They had many misspelled words, capitalization issues, and punctuation problems.
Creativity and Color
15 %

The student should use creativity to reinforce their desired feelings for their work. This should include color in the work.

Good

The student was very creative, using color and fictional scenes to show real situations. Their creativity did not take away from the historical accuracy of the time periods.
Fair

The student's work had either one aspect of creativity or color, but not both.
Poor

The student did very little with their creativity and they used little to no color.
Neatness
5 %

The students should concentrate on creating neat work, showing pride in what they do.

Good

The student turned in a neat paper, which showed pride in their work.
Fair

The student's paper was relatively neat, and some pride in work was evident.
Poor

The student's work was very sloppy. Their lack of neatness impeded on other's ability to understand the pictures.
