Comprehension	Novice High Student can easily understand familiar and unfamiliar words, based on context, from a variety of real-life text types either face-to-face or electronically. Student does not need multiple exposure to text.	Novice Mid Student can understand familiar and one or two unfamiliar words from a variety of real-life text types either face-to-face or electronically. The student may require average repetition.	Novice Low Student sometimes struggles to familiar words from a variety of real-life text types either face-to-face or electronically. The student may require significant repetition.	1 Student can understand just a few words but misses a significant portion of the text.
Main Idea	Novice High Student can easily extract the main idea with minimal exposure.	Novice Mid Student can extract the main idea with average second language exposure.	Novice Low Student struggles to extract the main idea with average exposure.	1 Student cannot extract main idea despite multiple exposure.
Supporting Details	Novice High Student can easily extract many supporting details with minimal exposure.	Novice Mid Student can extract many supporting details with average but repeated exposure.
