Forehand Serve Students will attempt three of each long and short forehand serve. Grip, stance, and shuttle contact will be evaluated twice, once for each type of
	Exceeds Expectations 4 pts	Meets Expectations 3 pts	Approaching Expectations 2 pts	Does Not Meet/Did Not Participate 0 pts
Grip Backhand / Handshake Grip Handshake grip on the racket - racket head is perpendicular to the ground	Exceeds Expectations Student uses the correct mechanics of a forehand grip in all three serves	Meets Expectations Student uses the correct mechanics of the forehand grip in two serves OR Student independently demonstrates the correct mechanics of the grip	Approaching Expectations Student uses the correct mechanics of the forehand grip in one serve OR Student demonstrates the correct mechanics of the grip	Does Not Meet/Did Not Participate Student does not use the correct mechanics of the forehand grip in each serve AND/OR Student does not demonstrate an understanding of the grip through modeling
Stance Non-dominant foot forward - side on body - weight shifted backward FAULT	Exceeds Expectations Student uses the correct stance in all three	Meets Expectations Student uses the correct stance in two serves OR Student demonstrates understanding of the stance through independent modeling of all three key points	Approaching Expectations Student uses the correct stance grip in one serve OR Student demonstrates understanding of the stance through guided modeling of two key points	Does Not Meet/Did Not Participate Student does not use the correct stance in each serve AND/OR Student does not demonstrate any key points modeling the stance
Shuttle Contact Shuttle dropped low in contact zone - racket hit below waste - contact made in front of the body	Exceeds Expectations Student uses the correct shuttle contact in all three serves	Meets Expectations Student uses the correct shuttle contact in two serves OR Student demonstrates understanding of the shuttle contact through independent modeling of all three key points	Approaching Expectations Student uses the correct shuttle contact grip in one serve OR Student demonstrates understanding of the shuttle contact through guided modeling of two key points	Does Not Meet/Did Not Participate Student does not use the correct shuttle contact in each serve AND/OR Student does not demonstrate any key points modeling the shuttle contact
Shuttle Trajectory Long Shuttle travels long and to the back of the court - shuttle lands in diagonal court- shuttle lands in bounds	Exceeds Expectations Shuttle trajectory is accurate in all three serves	Meets Expectations Shuttle trajectory is accurate in two of the three serves OR Student demonstrates understanding of the shuttle trajectory through independent modeling of the two key points	Approaching Expectations Shuttle trajectory is accurate in one of the three serves OR Student demonstrates understanding of the shuttle trajectory through guided modeling of one key point	Does Not Meet/Did Not Participate Shuttle trajectory is inaccurate in each serve AND/OR Student does not demonstrate any key points modeling the shuttle trajectory
Shuttle Trajectory Short Shuttle travels low and close to the net - lands just over the service line - shuttle lands over the service line	Exceeds Expectations Shuttle trajectory is accurate in all three serves	Meets Expectations Shuttle trajectory is accurate in two of the three serves OR Student demonstrates understanding of the shuttle trajectory through independent modeling of the two key points	Approaching Expectations Shuttle trajectory is accurate in one of the three serves OR Student demonstrates understanding of the shuttle trajectory through guided modeling of one key point	Does Not Meet/Did Not Participate Shuttle trajectory is inaccurate in each serve AND/OR Student does not demonstrate any key points modeling the shuttle trajectory
