Student has difficulty speaking enough. Student only able to produce short sentences. Student needs a lot of prompting to expand on ideas. Student hesitates and uses too many filler words.

Student has some difficulty speaking enough. Student produces mostly short sentences and needs some prompting to expand on ideas. Student has some hesitation and uses filler words.
B-/B/B+

Student has little difficulty producing longer, more complicated sentences. Student is able to speak for an appropriate length of time. Student only needs prompting one or two times. Student has little hesitation and only uses one or two filler words.
A-/A

Student can easily produced longer, more complicated sentences. Student can speak for a longer amount of time with no hesitations. Student does not use filler words.
Pronunciation

D-/D/D+

It is difficult to understand the student due to pronunciation issues. Other students in the group must often ask for clarification.
C-/C/C+

It is somewhat difficult to understand the student due to pronunciation issues. Other students in the group need clarification.
B-/B/B+

Others in the group can understand the student. Other students may need to ask for clarification only once or twice.

Student speaks clearly and is easy to understand. Other students in the group do not need to ask for clarification based on pronunciation issues at all.
Grammar

Student can produce mostly correct sentences. Student makes few errors in simple areas and is able to use some complex grammar in responses. It is easy to understand the student.

Student produces mostly correct sentences. Student does not make any simple errors. Student is able to form complex statements. It is easy to understand the student.
