Student demonstrates basic understanding that facilitates application of course knowledge and content. Some accuracy errors may be present. Explanations of the subject matter may be vague or insufficient.

Student demonstrates a moderate application of course knowledge and content. A few gaps or misconceptions may be present in the topic. If there are examples cited, they may be slightly off focus for the topic.

Course knowledge is appropriately applied to answer the question, with accuracy and concise verbage. All aspects and possibly additional topics are presented for consideration of the subject matter. Writer may have brought in relevant examples or other assessments that are applicable.

APA format is not followed. Writing skills are at a basic level. Errors may be prevalent. Research is either insufficient or unclear. Not enough articles used or articles are out of date.

APA format is inconsistently followed. Citation, reference, or structure errors may be present. Paper writing skills will need some effort. Typographical errors or punctuation mistakes are prevalent in the paper. Research is substandard, with not enough articles or articles included are not nursing related or web-based.

APA format is followed consistently with almost no error in structure or citation. Paper is well written with no typographical errors. Research is thorough, well cited, and at least five articles within date are properly included.
