Color Wheel Rubric

After a review of the colour wheel by the teacher, the student will create a circular shaped colour wheel on paper. The student will correctly mix and paint the correct primary and secondary colours on the colour wheel in the correct position. The student will then use use the colour wheel and the three primary paint colours to reproduce an image.

All colors have been mixed exceptionally well and are true to their hue.	Level 3 Secondary & Tertiary colors have been organized and painted in the correct order. Colors have been mixed adequately according to their hue.	Level 2 Secondary & Tertiary colors have been painted, but not organized on the colour wheel. Colors have been mixed, but are not true to their hue.	Level 1 Some Secondary & Tertiary colors have been painted, but not in the correct place on the color wheel. colors have not been mixed correctly.
Layout Understanding and Execution	Level 4 The color wheel is exceptionally drawn using an stencil shape with the correct number of spaces for the colors.	Level 3 The color wheel is well drawn and represents an stencil shape with the correct number of spaces for the colors.	Level 2 The color wheel is drawn in an stencil shape, but does not follow the directions given for the colors.	Level 1 The color wheel is poorly drawn and does not follow the instructions given for the colors.
Craftmanship How evenly every silhouette is painted, the layout of the wheel and it's parts and the care taken of the overall artwork. Creativity of silhouette stencil Student must create a stencil to use for each of the 13 colors on the color wheel.	Level 4 Stenciled silhouettes are unique and excellently creative in shape. They are cut out perfectly accurately and evenly across all 13 colors.	Level 3 Stenciled silhouettes are unique and creative in shape. Most are cut out well and evenly across all 13 colors.	Level 2 Stenciled silhouettes are fairly simple Several are not cut out accurately and evenly throughout all 13 colors.
