Near Mastery Poem written to contain some examples of tone/mood, figurative language, or conflict that vaguely relate to the chosen theme, but not all are clearly addressed.	Unacceptable Poem written does not contain examples of tone/mood, figurative language, and/or conflict.
Organization	Mastery Student created fewer than ten well constructed lines of poetry text,, completed all required materials in a clear, neat fashion.	Near Mastery Student created lines of poetry text that lack evidence of proof reading, completed most required materials but lines seems either stretched or redundant.	Unacceptable Student created lines of poetry text that are unorganized and do not fulfill requirements.
Presentation	Mastery The poem is presented with use of color, creativity and imagery, and all requirements are met.	Near Mastery The poem is presented with use of color, creativity and/or imagery, all requirements are met but work seems sloppy or rushed.	Unacceptable The poem's presentation is incomplete and lacks evidence of effort to fulfill requirements.
Spelling /Grammar	Mastery Shows evidence of some proof reading with only one to two grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors.	Near Mastery Lacks evidence of proof reading with three or more grammar, punctuation, or spelling errors.	Unacceptable Lack of proof reading interferes with ability to understand material.
