Literary Quotation Art Print Rubric 
The students will develop a poster design on a specific quotation of their choice. The poster must effectively utilize elements and principles of graphic design. The poster must be in black & white only and should include the name of author of the quotation. All images created must be original and help to convey the idea in the quotation.

Exceptional use of balance. White space used to enhance the design. Related items grouped together. Well-organized and very easy to read. Exceptional use of proximity.
Typography

Student has paid attention to font, size, and readability of type.

Non-Proficient

Poorly implemented typographic design choices in size, leading, kerning, tracking, alignment, etc.
Partially-Proficient

Weak implementation of typographic design choices. Some effort noted.
Proficient

Used typographic design choices wisely. Effective, but not exceptional.
Advanced

Used typographic choices wisely and created an outstanding design. Exceptionally eye-catching.
Graphic Image

The graphic element should support & enhance the message of the design. Images are original and created by the student.

Non-Proficient

The graphic image isn't original or does not relate directly to the quotation in any way.
Partially-Proficient

Chosen graphic may be out of proportion. The graphic images are incomplete or ill-conceived. The graphic may not clearly correlate to the quotation.
Proficient

Created graphics may be appropriate, but are not exceptional.
Advanced

Exceptional creation of graphic images.
Time Management/Work Ethic

The student worked continuously to improve the project until the deadline.

Non-Proficient

The student refused to work on the assignment in class.
Partially-Proficient

The student had to be frequently reminded to stay on task.
