Picasso Portrait Picasso Portrait This is a rubric for an art project on Pablo Picasso. Students observe and discuss Cubist art and focus on portraits. They create a portrait in the Cubist style. Cubism	Level 1 Does not show multiple views of the face. Limited planning involved. Does not represent the Cubist style.	Level 2 Shows different views of the face. Some planning before moving on to final drawing.	Level 3 Shows careful planning. Shows and understanding of cubism. Student places multiple views of the face and its features. Looks cubist in drawing.	Level 4 Shows excellent planning. Demonstrates strong understanding of cubism. Student places the multiple face profiles to make a unique picture.
Craftsmanship	Level 1 Drawing could be done with more care. Color mixing was not attempted or unsuccessful. Colouring is uneven	Level 2 The drawing is satisfactory. Drawing shows some careful work. Colour mixing was attemped in some areas.	Level 3 Student shows a very steady hand. The drawing is carefully completed. Colour mixing is successful.	Level 4 Student demonstrates great care and thoroughness in drawing. The drawing shows excellent detail Use of colour and mixing colour enhances the portrait.
Work Habits	Level 1 Work is incomplete. Rushing to finish but product is missing many key features	Level 2 Completed work in a timely manner. Did some of what was asked to create a cubist portrait.
