INFER Make an educated guess: what organism or part of the organism each fossil sample is	Exceeds Student made a logical guess.	Satisfactory Student guessed some type of organism.	Needs Help Student would not attempt to make a guess.
Make a mould Follow instructions to make a mold of a fossil.	Exceeds Student is able to follow instructions. A mold of a fossil has been successfully completed.	Satisfactory Student could follow most of the instructions. A satisfactory mold of a fossil has been made.	Needs Help Student had difficulty following instructions. Teachers help through out the process.
TALLY Figure out how many fossil types were represented out of the 7 samples examined.	Exceeds Student could tally their fossil sample results into 7 categories: leaf, bead, insect, animal, flower, fish and shell.	Satisfactory Student needed a little guidance from a peer or teacher when tallying his or her results.	Needs Help Student does not know how to tally or refused to.
