Step 1: "Keep"

I don‛t understand--Help! 😢

___ I cannot write fraction terms neatly across, with numerators and denominators aligned so I can read.
___ I cannot always see what I am writing.
___ I do not know what a 'fraction,' 'numerator,' or 'denominator' is.
I understand but need help😒

___ I can write fraction terms neatly across, with the numerators and denominators aligned enough to read, when I apply myself. I know what fractions are, but I am not motivated.
___ I can write the fraction terms neatly enough to read, but some of my numbers are backwards.
I‛m OK but need practice🤔

___ I can write & align fractions terms neatly enough to read, and multiply the top and bottom terms across. I know which numbers are the "numerators" and which are the "denominators."
___ I can do the above, and know what a fraction is, but need more practice opportunities.
I can do this on my own😊

___ I can always write fraction terms neatly, and I can align them in order to multiply without help. I know what a fraction is.
___ I can usually do these in my head and feel like this is easy.
___ I can do all this by myself, no problem!
Step 2: "Switch"

I don‛t understand--Help! 😢

___ I do not know the difference between "dividing" and "multiplying" a fraction.
___ I do not know where the "operations" symbol is, in a fractions equation. I don't understand why we have to switch the sign, when dividing fractions,
___ I don't understand division
I understand but need help😒

___ I know the difference between multiplying and dividing fractions, and I know what a fraction is. I can perform the operation, but don't know all my math facts.
___ I know where the "operations" symbol is, and can switch it, when I divide, but don't understand why.
I‛m OK but need practice🤔

___ I know the difference between multiplying and dividing fractions, and I know my math facts, but I don't always remember to switch the 'operations' sign, when dividing.
___ I know all the above, and usually remember to switch the operations sign, when dividing, but still don't understand why.
I can do this on my own😊

___ I know the difference between multiplying and dividing fractions and I know my math facts. I always remember to switch the operations sign when dividing fractions.
___ I know all the above. I don't care why we switch signs to divide, I just do!
Step 3: "Flip"

I don‛t understand--Help! 😢

___ I don't know where the "second term" is, in a fractions equation, in order to 'flip' it.
___ I don't know what the reciprocal of a fraction is.
___ I can't perform fractions operations without a pie chart or other visual.
I understand but need help😒

___ I know what it means to divide a fraction, and I can locate the second term to find its reciprocal, when dividing.
___ I can do the above, plus 'flip' the the second term, in order to set up a fractions division problem.
___ I can do both the above but I am lazy about showing my work.
I‛m OK but need practice🤔

___ I can locate term in a fractions division equation, and 'flip' it, to find its reciprocal, when dividing, but sometimes I forget.
___ I can usually find the reciprocal of the second term in a fractions division, and remember to flip it, but sometimes get confused about the number sign.
I can do this on my own😊

___ I can always locate the second term in a fractions division problem, and find its reciprocal, on my own.
___ I always remember to flip the second term, of a fractions division problem, on my own.
___ I always remember to do this by myself.
Step 4: "Multiply"

I don‛t understand--Help! 😢

___ I don't know my multiplication math facts, and this slows me down when dividing fractions.
___ I don't understand why we should 'multiply across,' when dividing a fraction, and this has me confused.
___ I don't understand factoring or reducing fractions, to get the simplest answer
I understand but need help😒

___ I understand how to align fractions terms, switch the sign, when dividing, and locate the second term's reciprocal, before multiplying across, but sometimes I forget which step I'm on.
___ I understand all the above, but I don't like to show my work, so when I come back to it, I am lost!
I‛m OK but need practice🤔

___ I understand how to align fractions terms, switch the sign when dividing, locate, and flip the second term, before multiplying across. I show my work, but sometimes get confused, and need practice.
___ I can do all the above and show work, but occasionally get it wrong. I need practice to find my mistakes.
I can do this on my own😊

___ I understand how to align fractions terms, switch the sign when dividing, locate and flip the second term, before multiplying across, and I know the need to show my work. I can do all these things on my own and reduce my answer to its simplest form.
___ I am ready for Integers!
