Pencil/Value Shading Techniques 
This is an assignment to teach the student the power of shading values, by drawing two dimensional shapes into three dimensional shaded forms.

* Erase off the pencil outline at light source
* Cast shadow is darkest value

* Pencil strokes follow the object
* Erase off the pencil outline at light source
* Cast shadow not darkest value

* Each shape demonstrates 2 or 3 different shading values
* Pencil strokes do not follow object shape
* Pencil outline at light source not erased
* Cast shadow not darkest value.

* Each shape demonstrates less than 2 different shading values
* Pencil strokes do not follow the object shape.
* Pencil outline on the light side is not erased.
* Incorrect cast shadows.
Clean & Crisp

* Shapes are crisp and clean no outside pencil strokes.
* Drawing appearance is sharp.
