Design

Attaching pieces, carving, and the overall creativity of your piece.

Excellent

The piece was well thought out and designed. If student had attachments they were attached properly, smoothed out, and stayed attached during firings. Creativity was really pushed through the piece and the artist came up with a one-of-a-kind idea. If carving was done, the student used proper tools and did the carving very neatly and made sure things were smoothed out after.
Good

The piece was pretty well thought out and designed. If student had attachments, they were attached properly, but needed to be more smoothed out, and they stayed attached during firings. Creativity was present through the piece and the artist came up with a good artistic pinch pot. If carving was done, the carving was pretty neat and mostly smoothed out .
Fair

The piece needed a little more planning. If student had attachments, they had attachment construction issues and were not smoothed out very well. Creativity wasn't very present through the piece. If carving was done, the carving was done only with a needle tool and was hard to make out visually plus needed to be smoothed out .
Poor

The piece needed much more planning. If student had attachments, they had poor construction and did not all stay attached. Attachments were not smoothed out at all. Creativity wasn't present through the piece and the artist just completed the project to complete it quickly without much thought.. If carving was done, the carving was done poorly with a needle tool, sloppy, and not smooth.
Glaze Quality

How did the glaze look after firing?

Excellent

The glaze is even, there is no dripping or thin spots and layers of two colors overlapping each other because of quick brush work.
Good

The glaze has a little unevenness, but no dripping. The piece has some glaze overlapping, but is still glazed pretty well.
Fair

The glaze is very uneven, and there are minor drips. Artist had many brushing issues with the glaze.
Poor

The glaze is very uneven, and there are major drips. The artist rushed through and the glaze job looks sloppy and messy.
