Design Process (The Standard)
5 pts

The Design Process: As Citizens of the constructed world, students will participate in the design process. Students will learn to use materials and tools safely and employ the basic principles of the engineering design process in order to find solutions to problems.

Does not Meet

Many parts of the design process incomplete. Vague descriptions. Did not pay attention to details. Some materials listed, but not all. Little or not specifications. Poor effort!
Partially Meets

Some details of your design process were missing for the design of your wind turbine. Too few or missing some specifications of the blade design. Listed some of the materials. More effort and evidence needed to show how you came-up with your final design.
Meets the Standard

Provided an detailed description of ideas for the design of your wind turbine. Gave some specifications of the blade design, and list of materials.
Exceeds (WOW FACTOR!)

Provided an "over-the-top" detailed description of ideas for the design of your wind turbine. Gave complete and accurate specifications, and detailed materials list. Great visualization of the design process.
Science, Engineering, & Technology
5 pts

Design and construct a device that converts energy from one form to another to perform work.Explain that energy can be used to do work using many processes (e.g., generation of electricity by harnessing wind energy) through the demonstration of the wind turbines.

Does not Meet

Did not do a good job describing or did not describe how wind energy is converted to electricity.
Partially Meets

Gave some explanation of how wind energy is converted to electricity, but failed to mention a key component(s) for this process.
Meets the Standard

Described how wind energy is converted to electricity
Exceeds (WOW FACTOR!)

Provided a "detailed" description of how wind energy is converted to electricity when demonstrating the functionality of the final wind turbine design.
Keynote Slide Organization & Flow
5 pts

At least 7 slides, careful use of transitions between the slides. Title slide including name of company.

Does not Meet

Important information was missing or vague. It is pretty obvious that did not use my time wisely.
Partially Meets

Information was missing or vague. Did not pay much attention to detail.
Meets the Standard

All requirements are present & accurate to show how you got from prototype to final product.
Exceeds (WOW FACTOR!)

Slides show insight and are accurate. The information shows detailed description of how the wind turbines went from prototypes to final product
Pictures/Font/Color
5 pts

Careful selection of images (your own...not computer generated), colors, fonts, transitions enhance the presentation.

Does not Meet

Did not make good use of the fonts, colors, graphics, effects and slides were generally generic or too busy. Many pictures missing!
Partially Meets

Made use of the font, color, graphics, effects, but occasionally my choices were distracting or didn't add to the presentation. Some pictures missing.
Meets the Standard

Made good use of font, color, graphics, and effects to enhance my presentation. Images were appropriate and text was readable. Included all pictures needed to show how the prototype evolved into the final product!
Exceeds (WOW FACTOR!)

Made excellent use of the font, color, graphics and effects to enhance my presentation. Slides and images were unique, and easily read. Included great pictures needed to show how the prototype evolved into the final product!
Presentation/ (Eye Contact & Voice)
5 pts

Student presents Keynote to the class accurately with feeling and details instead of just reading the slides...

Does not Meet

Was not smooth. Did not hold audience's attention.
Partially Meets

Tried to be smooth in my delivery, but should have practiced more. Read a lot from note cards/slides and didn't look at the audience enough.
Meets the Standard

Rehearsed and was fairly smooth with delivery. Held the audience's attention and made occasional eye contact.
Exceeds (WOW FACTOR!)

Well-rehearsed with smooth delivery. Held the audience's attention by sharing extra information not on the slides. Didn't need to look at keynote slides much and maintained eye contact.
Participation
5 pts

Every student needs to equally participate in the delivery.

Does not Meet

Not all team members participate; only one or two speak.
Partially Meets

All team members participate, but not equally.
Meets the Standard
Exceeds (WOW FACTOR!)
