95-100

Student Plays all of the correct notes with the correct fingerings/position/hand grip.
90-95

Student misses 1 or 2 notes, but realizes it and, corrects them before moving on.
80-90

Student misses a couple of notes but, does not correct them before moving on.
70-80

Student misses multiple notes, does not seem to realize they are playing the wrong notes.
60-70

Many missed notes, due to wrong fingerings and a lack of practice.

Student is unable to complete the test.
Tone Quality

95-100

Student uses lots of air and plays with a confident, loud, and pretty sound.
Perc: student strikes mallets correct, and with enough energy to produce a proper sound.
90-95

Student uses lots of air and plays with a confident, loud, and pretty sounds. There may be occasional drops in the pitch due to lack of air support, but overall sound is good.

Perc: Student strikes mallets correct and with enough energy to produce a good sound. Rolls have a small amount of space between them.
80-90

Student is not using enough air to play loud and confident. Sound is not bad, but is not strong enough.

Rolls have gaps in the sound as student moves from one not to the next. Student does not strike the bar hard enough.
70-80

Student is unable to hold notes out full value due to lack of proper breathing and air support. Sound is lacking fullness.

Perc: Rolls have large gaps in the sound and are not even.
60-70

Student is unable to play correct notes due to lack of air.

Perc: Rolls are not even, one hand is stronger than the other and there are very large gaps in sound.
50 and below

Student is unable to produce notes on their instrument due to lack of breathing and air support.

Perc: Student does not understand how to roll or, how to move from one note to the next.
