Listens to Follow Directions	Novice Rarely follows multi-step directions, needs steps broken into single steps, often needs prompting to carry out.	Apprentice Sometimes follows multi-step directions, often needs repetition, may need prompting sometimes.	Prcatitioner Usually follows multi-step directions.	Expert Always follows multi-step directions with self-initiated requests for clarification as appropriate.
Listening Behaviors	Novice Rarely visually attentive to speaker.	Apprentice Sometimes visually attentive to speaker.	Prcatitioner Usually appears attentive to speaker.	Expert Visibly attentive to speaker with settled posture and visual attention to speaker.
Self Advocates	Novice Rarely seeks clarification.	Apprentice Sometimes seeks clarification when needed.	Prcatitioner Usually seeks clarification when needed--tends to be one source.	Expert Frequently seeks clarification--able to seek out more than one source of help appropriately.
Engages with Instruction Verbally	Novice Rarely comments.	Apprentice Sometimes comments on presented information. May need a direct question to do so.	Prcatitioner Usually comments on presented information, does not need prompting from teacher but is responsive to prompting.	Expert Frequently comments on presented information. Does not need prompts from teacher to offer comment.
