	Level 1 2 pts	Level 2 5 pts	Level 3 7 pts	Level 4 10 pts
Spelling / Grammar	Level 1 Your poem has many spelling and grammar mistakes. You have made no effort to correct obvious mistakes.	Level 2 Your poem has several errors in grammar and spelling which make it difficult to understand.	Level 3 Your poem has a few errors in spelling and/or grammar. It is easily understood.	Level 4 Your spelling and grammar are virtually error free.
Poem Style	Level 1 Your poem is not written in a shape.	Level 2 Your poem is written in a crude shape.	Level 3 Your poem is written in a creative shape that represents an aspect of what the poem is about.	Level 4 Your poem is written in a well-defined and detailed shape that clearly represents the poem.
Appropriateness of Language	Level 1 No thought has been given to word choices. This makes your poem difficult to relate to and understand.	Level 2 Little thought has been given to word choices. Your poem would have been more meaningful with a few word substitutions.	Level 3 Your poem demonstrates good sensory details and appropriate use of language which evidently represents what the poem is about.	Level 4 Your poem uses precise language and sensory details that have been carefully chosen to present what the poem is about.
Neatness & Legibility	Level 1 Writer's print is not easily readable. Illustrations show no effort and do not connect with topic of the poem.	Level 2 Writer's print is a somewhat unreadable. Illustrations show some effort and somewhat connect with the poem.	Level 3 Writer's print is readable. The illustrations show effort and connect with the overall topic of the poem.	Level 4 Writer's final product is neat, clean, and readable. Illustrations show excellent effort and knowledge of what the poem is about.
