Finding Volume Finding Volume Student will be finding volume using three strategies learned. Counting square units, Base x Height and Length x Width x Height. Rubric Code: A248X93 By Nunezsandra Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Math Type: Assessment Grade Levels: K-5

Finding volume Objective 1: The student will find the volume of a cube and a rectangular prism by counting cubes, using traditional algorithm, and condensed algorithm base area formula. Objective 2: Students will solve real world problems finding the volume.
	Competent The student independently completed computation accurately and demonstrated understanding by showing how they solved the problem with no errors. 3 pts	Approaching Competency Student completed computation accurately with minimal mistakes. 2 pts	Unsatisfactory Student did not show understanding in any category or did not provide an answer. 1 pts
Conceptual Understanding 3 pts Student shows evidence of recognizing volume is what fits inside the 3-dimensional object. (Ex. Students count how many layered cubes are inside a square) Objective 1 Questions: 1-4	Competent Student independently counted all cubes inside given object. Student understands some cubes are hidden.	Approaching Competency Students counted seen cubes accurately and some hidden cubes. Student partially understands all inside area must be full for volume.	Unsatisfactory Student did not count cubes accurately. Student did not understand the concept.
Procedural Fluency 3 pts Students demonstrate evidence of understanding how to find volume using traditional algorithm (Length x Width x Height and Base x Height) Objective 1 Questions: 5-7, 9-13, 15	Competent Student used correct strategy to solve for volume and completed computation accurately.	Approaching Competency Student understands how to solve for volume, but did not solve computation accurately.	Unsatisfactory Student did not use correct strategy and did not solve computation.
Mathematical Reasoning/ Problem Solving 3 pts Student computes a reasonable solution to finding other dimensions when given volume. Objective 2 Questions: 6,8,14,16	Competent Student identifies and implements strategies to solve for missing dimensions and completes computation accurately.	Approaching Competency Student identifies and implements strategy to solve for missing dimensions, but did not complete computation correctly.	Unsatisfactory Student did not identify strategy and did not complete computation.
