Finding the Area of Composite Figures
Students are to create a robot composite figure and then calculate the area and perimeter of parts of that figure. Students will ultimately find the total area of the composite figure by combining the areas of all the parts. Pi Day Explorations
Rotate through Pi stations. Use string and a ruler to measure the circumference of various circle shaped goodies, and record measurements in Customary or Metric units. Use a ruler to measure the diameters, and record them in the same units. Determine the of circumference to diameter, and identify how many times the circumference goes across the length of the diameter. After completing rotations, reflect on your findings and Pi.

Do you make New Year's resolutions? What is a resolution? A resolution is a promise. It is a promise that you make to yourself! It is a tradition for people to make resolutions at the beginning of a new year. Write an expository paragraph about your New Year's resolution. In your expository paragraph: 1. State what your resolution is in a topic sentence. 2. Tell why you chose this resolution. 3. Describe how it will help you or other people.

The purpose of a Socratic Seminar is to achieve a deeper understanding about the ideas and values in a text. In a Seminar, participants systematically question and examine issues and principles related to a particular content, and articulat different points-of-view.
