Students will compose a speech as one of the characters from one of the epics that we are studying (Beowulf, The Iliad, and The Odyssey). Student’s speeches must have a theme or focus that is relevant to the epic they choose. Themes must be reinforced throughout the speech and the climax of the speech must be both intriguing and thought provoking. Students will be graded on theme, theme reinforcing methods, and the strength of the climax of the speech.

Original poem to be used in context of a Novel Study

Students will use technology to create a Novel Study Presentation.

Students will construct a diorama of a scene from the novel studied in class, and write a detailed explanation of the scene.

Students will create a comic strip depicting an important scene from the novel. Comic strip should summarize the scene while still communicating the significance, theme, and characterization.

Using library books and online resources, research a waterborne illness and create an illustrated brochure that shows and discusses what the bacterium or organism looks like, how it infects people, the disease’s symptoms, how it is treated, what happens if it is not treated, and how the illness can be prevented.
