CCSS.5.MD.A.1 Convert among different-sized standard measurement units within a given measurement system (e.g., convert 5 cm to 0.05 m), and use these conversions in solving multi-step, real world problems. TASK: Students collect and record data using customary tool measuring the heights of five different people and convert to feet & inches. Students will complete conversion algorithms and solve real world problems with mastery.

Children will measure capacity by using nonstandard units.

For this project you choose 4 equations (1 from each group: one-step equations, two-step equations, equations involving distributive property, and equations with variables on both sides) and solve them – SHOWING all steps. You must also include some sort of explanation for each solution.

One-step Equation Performance Task

This rubric will help you understand the meaning of rational numbers and use them in computation.

Students will write a real-world math situation for evaluating expressions.

Students will solve word problems using math problems and pictures.

Fractions: Multiplying Fractions: using an area model to solve.

Essential Questions Answered 1. Explanation of the place value system. 2. How to multiply decimals. 3. When good multiplication and division skills with decimals are needed and why they are important. Include examples, and visual models to help the class have a clear understanding of how to work with decimals. You should have multiple representations using pictures, numbers and words.
