This is a rubric to evaluate leadership competencies in the candidates

The candidate will engage with citizens.

Each student, working with an assigned team will prepare for, and participate in, a simulated negotiation. Students will practice active listening and use it to better develop his/her arguments. Students will approach their peers with respect while making their point. Students will practice effective communication when engaging in the simulation.

After creating a short role play, your group will then perform your role play to a class.

Students will create an interaction of a patient and hospital staff. The instructors will role play a patient complaint and an attempt on the part of hospital staff to resolve the complaint.

Please provide any observations you have of a candidate’s skills. Specifically, we are looking for mention of Teamwork, Leadership, Problem Solving, Prioritizing, and Communication. All the activities throughout Group Process are going to utilize these traits. However, there are some traits are going to be more prominent than others, depending on the activity. So, when writing comments please touch on as many of these traits as you see the candidate use in the course of the activity.
