Handcuffing Rubric
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 3 pts	Good 5 pts
Voice Commands	Poor Could not hear commands clearly and were given in a disorganized manner. Failed to maintain command of the situation.	Fair Commands were given in clear manner but difficult to hear at times. Provided commands in the proper order and explained what the suspect was expected to do.	Good Commands were given in clear and concise manner. Used proper volume while giving commands. Provided commands in the proper order and explained exactly what the suspect was expected to do.
Physical Control	Poor improper approach and removed the handcuffs from the pouch before controlling the suspect.	Fair Failed to either approach suspect properly and cautiously. or Removed handcuffs from pouch before "hands on " control of suspect.	Good Approached the suspect properly, being cautious and safe while maintaining the correct reactionary gap. Had “hands on” control of suspect before removing handcuffs from pouch. Kept suspect at disadvantage.
Handcuffing	Poor Handcuffs are too loose/tight. Not double locked.	Fair Handcuffs tightened appropriately and double locked.	Good Placed the handcuffs on suspect properly. Keyhole facing up, double locked and tightened appropriately.
Search of Person	Poor Did not search from head to toe, beginning at the top and searching all the way down. Didn't check the midsection or legs.	Fair Searched the top portion of the person, but didn't check the midsection thoroughly or leg area.	Good Searched from head to toe. Checked the arms, back, midsection, legs, and shoes.
