Knowledge of choreography	Unsatisfactory Remembers a few of the steps/ movements and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others.	Developing Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes some errors	Proficient Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Few errors.	Exemplary Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography. and does it well.
Technical skills	Unsatisfactory Although remembers some of dance, little attention paid to how movements are done or other details of dance.	Developing Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in performance.	Proficient Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet.	Exemplary Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement on stage and other details of dance. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of dance style.
Performance Skills	Unsatisfactory The dancer is not very focused, concentrated or committed to performance. Dancer was unprofessional and not engaged.	Developing The dancer is generally focused, but only some attempt made to communicate with others on stage or audience. Low energy. Dancer was not engaged and unprofessional at times.	Proficient The dancer communicates with other dancers and audience through eye contact and facial and body expression. Dancer gave a good amount of energy and effort. Dancer showed professionalism on stage and off.	Exemplary The dancer creates a believable character on stage and is able to engage the audience completely through their performance. Excellent energy and effort were given. Dancer was fully engaged and behaved professionally on stage and off.
