Rarely runs looking straight ahead. Little or no arm movement. Runs flat footed.

Usually looks straight ahead with some arm movement. Feet not facing forward.

Looks straight ahead while running and feet and arms are moving in a straight line in the direction of movement. Weight is on the balls of the feet.
Sliding

Needs Improvement (N)

Cannot slide.
Approaching Expectations (A)

Movement resembles gallop or feet cross.
Meeting Expectations (M)

Movement is sideways but feet sometimes cross or heels click together.
Exceeds Expectations (E)

Consistent sideways movement with either foot leading and feet do not cross or touch.
Leaping

Needs Improvement (N)

Cannot leap.
Approaching Expectations (A)

Moves from 1 foot but lands on 2 feet.
Meeting Expectations (M)

Moves from 1 foot to the other foot but without sufficient force or controlled landing.
Exceeds Expectations (E)

Springs from 1 foot to the other with force, landing with control.
