	Poor 0 pts	Fair 3 pts	Proficient 5 pts
Smooth transition between stories	Poor Stumbling between most of the stories--stories blend too closely together, or there is too much time between stories.	Fair Transition from one story to the next is not noticeable enough or there is noticeable hesitation between stories.	Proficient Clean, clear breaks between stories Previews upcoming stories at timely intervals (ex. before a "commercial break") Smooth timing between stories (i.e. no rushing at the end of one to get into the next)
Smooth delivery	Poor The speaker often stumbles over words and/or cannot get through their bizarre piece because of laughter.	Fair Some stumbling over words and/or vocal inflection is extreme or bland. During the "bizarre story" there is some laughter or other indication that it's not a serious piece.	Proficient No stumbling over words or sentences. Sentences are given good inflection and at an appropriate speed. The "bizarre story" is read in a serious tone; no laughter.
Clear voice	Poor Volume is too quiet; some portions of the newscast are lost because of incoherence and garbled speech.	Fair Volume decreases at some points and/or some words are lost either from mumbling or speaking too fast.	Proficient Good volume and clear articulation--every word is understandable.
