VEX Robot Design
This rubric will be used to assess the overall design of a student's or group of students' robot that is going to be built with VEX Robotics parts. This does not include the sketch or CAD drawing of the robot. This deals with group functionality and project management as pertains to the design of the group's project.

Decision Making

Group members avoid unnecessary “attachment” to their designs that gets in the way of productive discussion. All group member are able to reach consensus.

Decisions show evidence of a thoughtful decision-making process. Group has given appropriate consideration to all aspects of development, including mechanics, programming, and testing.

Project has progressed from what was available at time of proposal. Most team members have effectively contributed to development. Most decisions show evidence of use of a thoughtful decision-making process. Group has spent some time considering all aspects of development.
Fair
Project has made only fair progression beyond what was available at the time of proposal. Few team members have effectively contributed to development. Decisions were made without using a decision-making process. Group has spent little time considering all aspects of development.
Poor
Project has not progressed from time of proposal. Little contribution from any team member. No clear decisions made. Group did not consider all aspects of development.
Construction
Excellent
The robot is free-standing. The joints are strong and effective. All screws are tight and the overall robot is built solid.
Good
The robot can stand by itself, the joints are effective, all but a few screw are tight.
Fair
The robot is unstable, parts are falling off and joints are poorly formed.
Poor
The robot cannot stand by itself, it is not assembled correctly or completed.
Visual
Excellent
The robot is eye catching and care was taken when designing and building the robot.
Good
there has been clear effort to make the robot look well built and function well.
Fair
There was some effort to make the robot look nice. But could use more work.

The robot is not eye catching or neatly made.

The robot is very close to the design, any minor changes are listed with solid reasoning.
