Watercolor and Contour leaves Contour Self Portraits Students drew several leaves with oontour line. Students applied transparent watercolor to the drawing. Students applied the principles of movement, repetition and variation to their project. Contour Line drawing	Exceptional=1 Student demonstrates careful observation in the contour line drawing of the leaves. Both outside and inside contours are considered. Lines are continuous.	Good=2 Student demonstrates observation in the contour line drawing of the leaves. Some outside and inside contours are considered. Lines are mostly continuous.	Satisfactory=3 Student demonstrates some observation in the contour line drawing of the leaves. Only outside contours are considered. Lines are somewhat continuous.	Unsatisfactory=4 Little to no observation demonstrated in the drawing. Lines are broken and fuzzy.
Design Balance and movement	Exceptional=1 The art work is clearly balanced. The arrangement produces a feeling of movement.The work is cohesive and well designed.	Good=2 The art work is mainly balanced. The arrangement produces some feeling of movement. It is mostly cohesive and well designed.	Satisfactory=3 The artwork is either lacking balance or movement. The art has some organization but lacks an overall unity.	Unsatisfactory=4 The artwork lacks balance and movement. Design seems haphazard.
Watercolor Application	Exceptional=1 Student shows excellent use of color and neat application of the watercolor paints.	Good=2 Student shows thoughtful use of color and mostly neat application of the watercolor paints.	Satisfactory=3 Student use of color does not enhance the design. The application of the watercolor paints lacks neatness.	Unsatisfactory=4 Student shows poor choice of color and sloppy application of the watercolor paints.
