Dribbling a soccer ball 
This rubric will be used to assess the students when they are learning how to dribble in soccer. Students will be assessed on their ability to dribble with their eyes/heads up, dribble using both feet/multiple parts of the foot, keeping the ball close, using feedback to make adjustments, and not hitting the cones.

This rubric will be used to assess the students when they are learning how to dribble in soccer. Students will be assessed on their ability to dribble with their eyes/heads up, dribble using both feet/multiple parts of the foot, keeping the ball close, using feedback to make adjustments, and not hitting the cones.

Use of Both Feet

Students will be asked to dribble using both feet, as well as multiple parts of the foot in the activity.

Poor

Student is unable to use both feet. They have trouble using the non-dominant foot. They only use one part of the foot AND one foot to dribble.
Fair

Student begins using both feet. They make attempts to use their dominant and non-dominant foot, but still struggle with their non-dominant. They also make attempts to use multiple parts of their feet.
Average

Student begins using both feet. They make attempts to use their dominant and non-dominant foot, but still struggle with their non-dominant. They also use at least 2 different parts of the foot to dribble.
Excellent

Student is able to dribble to ball alternating which foot they use. They use both the left and right foot and also use a mixture of inside, laces, outside, and sole to dribble.
Ball Control

Students are able to keep the ball close to their foot/body. Students do not kick the ball far and can move at a constant pace.

Poor

Student is unable to control the ball appropriately. Student kicks the ball and has to quickly get to it to continue the activity.
Fair

Student controls the ball for less than half of the activity. Student makes attempts to control the ball, but ultimately does not control it.
Average

Student controls the ball for majority of the activity, but still has a few times where they kick it too far.
Excellent

Student is able to keep the ball under control the whole time. They are able to control the ball and move at a constant pace.
Eye/Head Position

Students are able to keep their eyes and heads up and avoid looking at the ball

Poor

Student does not take their eyes off of the ball. They constantly look down at the ball and their feet the entire activity.
Fair

Student keeps their eyes up for less than half of the activity. They make attempts, but they have a tendency to only look at the ball or their feet.
Average

Student keeps their eyes up for more than half of the activity. They look up for most of the activity, but do have times where they look down.
Excellent

Student is able to keep their eyes looking up during the activity. Student is able to dribble without looking down.
Avoiding Obstacles

Students are able to dribble through the coins and avoid as many cones as they can while performing the skill.

Poor

Student is unable to avoid the cones. Student hits every cone as they go through the activity. Student makes no effort to avoid the cones or misses coins.
Fair

Student is unable to avoid the cones. Student does avoid some, but still manages to hit most. Student may miss cones or skip over some.
Average

Student is able to avoid most cones. Student hits 1-2 cones only and does not miss or skip any cones.
Excellent

Student is able to avoid all cones. Student uses both feet and is able to make turns between cones and avoid hitting them.
Feedback/Directions

Students are able to follow instructions for the activity. Students can take feedback from the teacher and apply it towards their next attempt.

Poor

Student does not follow any directions. Student does what they want to do. Student goes not listen to any feedback given between trials.
Fair

Student follows the directions for the activity, but does not apply the feedback given to them.
Average

Student follows the activity directions and makes an attempt to apply the feedback given to them. The student tries the feedback, but goes back to doing what they want.
Excellent

Students follows all directions properly. Student takes feedback from the teacher and uses the feedback to adjust their performance.
