The student's writing style is fairly inviting. He or she made an attempt to pull in his or her viewer through several writing strategies but these strategies may not be fully effective.

The student's writing style is very inviting to a reader. The student uses many writing strategies to make his or her artist review an interesting and descriptive read. The reader can visualize the work without having to physically see it.

The student does not analyze the piece thoroughly. The student is unable to identify relationships between the Elements and the Principles of Art.

The student attempts to analyze the piece of art. Some relationships between the Elements and the Principles of Design are pointed out but the student fails to identify how this relationship is specifically created in the piece.

The student does an excellent job identifying relationships between the Elements and the Principles in the art piece. The student uses evidence from the work to back up their claims about the relationship.

The student does not identify why the work is good or bad.

The student identifies that the work is good or bad but does not use evidence from pervious points in their critique.

The student identifies whether the work is good or bad and uses solid evidence from prior pieces to back up their claim.
