Grip Technique

Level 1

Hands are in different positions throughout the skill.
Level 2

Hands are together and student has little control of stick
Level 3

Hands are at least hip width apart with moderate control of stick
Level 4

Hands are at least hip width apart. Top hand is palm down and bottom hand has palm up, student has full control of stick.
Stick Handling

Level 1

Student loses puck off the stick blade often and switches from left hand to right hand.
Level 2

Loses control of puck often.
Level 3

Student can use short taps or pushes with moderate control of the puck.
Level 4

Student can use short taps or pushes to manipulate the puck with their head up (student can "feel" the puck on the stick) with complete control of the puck.
Passing

Level 1

Never looks to pass, aimlessly shoots puck down the floor.
Level 2

Keeps head down while passing the puck, does not always go to target, displays little accuarcy.
Level 3

Passes the puck to teammates effectively, displays proper technique.
Level 4

Constantly makes right decsions, Passes are accurate, well timed, shows great ability to get other teammates involved.
Shooting

Level 1

Never displays proper form, shots are aimless, player shows desire in actually scoring.
Level 2

Shots are not effective, does not display proper form.
Level 3

Shows knowledege of proper shot selection, displays above average scoring ability, shots are well timed and accuarte.
Level 4

Demonstrates great scoring ability, Displays proper from, shows great understanding of shot seleciton and shot types.
Safety

Level 1

Does not carry the stick in a safe manner and high sticks more than 3 times in a game.
Level 2

Sometimes uses the stick in a safe manner and high sticks 2 to 3 times in a game.
Level 3

Usually uses the stick in a safe manner and high sticks 1 time or less in a game.
Level 4

Always holds the stick in a safe manner, and never high sticks.
Teamwork & Effort

Level 1

Refuses to particpate in games.
Level 2

Does not follow rules and is not a good sport. Does not try.
Level 3

Tries to follow game rules but does not always display good sportsmanship.
Level 4

Follows game rules and is a good sport. Always tries hard during activities.
