Retention of choreography	1 Dancer does not retain choreography and often has difficulty catching up	2 Remembers a few of the steps/movements and sequencing of movement. Dancer is not confident and often watches others.	3 Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes forgets/hesitates/watches others and makes errors.	4 Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Learns quickly. Keeps up with the group. Remembers sequencing or movement. Dancer is mostly confident.	5 Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography and does it well. Dancer learns quickly and retains choreography well. A leader in the group.
Technical Skills for age	1 Student struggles to understand how to execute technical movement, and does not remember applicable vocabulary	2 Although dancer remembers some of the dance, little attention is paid to how movements are done or other details. Movements are not performed to dancers best ability. Remembers some vocabulary.	3 Some understanding of technical elements (i.e. footwork, quality of movements and body positions) and retention of applicable vocabulary	4 Movement is performed with attention to most details of technique. Movements are mostly big and clear. Student is confident. Uses applicable vocabulary.	5 Movement is performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, footwork and quality of movement is present. Dancer is confident. Knows vocabulary well.
Rhythm & Musicality	1 Rhythm, musicality timing are not in sync with the music.	2 Attempts to keep a rhythm but gets off beat. Speeds up or fall behind the music regularly.	3 Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat but sometimes falls behind and/or speeds up in places.	4 Generally accurate in beat, tempo and rhythm. Occasionally falls of the beat.	5 Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythm throughout the dance.
Focus & Attentiveness	1 Focus is not on the teacher and there is little to no presence. Dancer is disinterested or easily distracted.	2 Dancers' focus is never or seldom at a high level. Dancer shows low interest or is somewhat distracted.	3 Dancers' focus is sometimes on the teacher, but eyes wander. Dancer sometimes shows high energy and presence. Attempts to remain undistracted.	4 Dancers' focus is mostly at high level with steady eyes, high energy and presence.	5 Dancers' focus is always a high level with steady eyes, high energy and presence.
