Automotive Lift Rubric 
The student will follow shop rules and safely lift the vehicle as if going to repair the vehicle. The student must also lower the vehicle and clear the lift for the vehicle to be driven off the lift. If equipped with a sub jack the student will explain and or demonstrate the correct use of the subject.

Poor

Student did not perform lifting procedures safely or was not wearing safety glasses in the shop.

Student somewhat followed safety procedures but was able to lift the vehicle.
Good

Student followed all safety practices and safely complete the task of lifting a vehicle.
Student wore the correct work shirt, work pants, work boots, and safety glasses.
Pre lift inspection

Inspect lift area and controls, and check lift weight capacity and vehicle weight.

Poor

Student did not perform any pre-lift inspection.
Fair

Student performed some but not all pre-lift inspection items. Student required help to perform the pre-lift inspection.
Good

Student successfully performed the pre-lift inspection without assistance from the instructor.
Spotting of Vehicle on the Lift

The student should use correct hand signals and not stand at a pinch point while spotting the vehicle on the lift. The vehicle should be centered between the post and centered front to back.

Poor

Student did not correctly spot the vehicle on the lift and the vehicle could not be lifted. Did not use hand signals or clearly communicate with the driver.
Fair

Student performed some hand signals and was able to get the vehicle on the lift but was not centered. The student did not perform a shake test.
Good

Student successfully spotted the vehicle on the lift centered between the post and centered front to back on the lift. Hand signals were used and directions were clearly communicated with the driver. A correct shake test was performed.
Vehicle Lifting points

Correctly setting the lift arms with the 2 posts or correctly setting up the sub jacks.

Poor

Student was not able to set the lift correctly on the vehicle.
Fair

Student somewhat knew how to lift vehicles. The student required some help to keep the vehicle level and secure to lift or help to place the arms of the lift.
Good

Student successfully lifted the vehicle to the correct lift points without assistance from the instructor. The student has access to a lifting guide and shop key pro for correct lifting points.
Knowledge of Vehicle lift going up

Correctly use lift controls to raise the vehicle.
Check the area, announce going up, securing the vehicle on the locks.

Poor

Student did not know how to use lift functions and was unable to complete the lifting process.
Fair

Student needed assistance with the functions of the lift but was able to lift the vehicle.
Good

Student knew the functions of the lift and was able to lift the vehicle without assistance. Student announced "Going Up" before lifting. A correct height adapter was used. The vehicle was secured correctly on the locks.
Knowledge of Vehicle lift going down

Correctly use lift controls to lower the vehicle.
Check the area, announce going down, securing the vehicle on the ground. Put the vehicle back in park if left in Neural.

Poor

Student did not know how to use lift functions and was unable to complete the lifting process.
Fair

Student needed assistance with the functions of the lift but was able to lift the vehicle.
Good

Student knew the functions of the lift and was able to lower the vehicle without assistance. Student announced "Going down" before lowering the lift. The vehicle was correctly released from the locks.
