Garden Plan Garden Plan This is an assessment used to evaluate high school students in planning a vegetable garden. Students need to plan one 20X30 garden plot that includes at least 10 different species of plants. Part of Plant 25 % Edible plant parts that are included - at least two for each type - roots, stems, leaves	Excellent Includes 2 types of edible roots, stems, and leaves in the garden plan and has each label accordingly	Good Includes 2 types of edible roots, stems, and leaves in the garden plan, but is missing the labels	Fair Missing 1 of the 3 main parts of the plant that are edible from the plan, has what is there labeled	Poor Missing 2 of the 3 main parts of the plant that are edible from the plan, has what is there labeled OR Has 1 of the three parts missing, but is not labeled
Life Cycle 25 % Each Plant is labeled with its correct life cycle - must include at least 2 perennial and 2 annuals	Excellent All plants have their life cycles labeled and have at least 2 perennials and 2 annuals	Good All plants have their life cycles labeled but are missing either perennial or annual plants	Fair Less than 25% of the plants have life cycle missing	Poor More than 25% of the plants have their life cycles missing
Tropisms 15 % At least 2 plants in plan grow with some type of response (thigmotropism, gravitropism, hydrotropism, etc.)	Excellent Two plants are correctly labeled with a tropism.	Good One plant is correctly labeled with a tropism.	Fair Two plants are labeled with a tropism, but it is incorrect.	Poor Only 1 plant is labeled with a response, response is incorrect.
