Exceeds Expectaions

The student can demonstrate the choreography cleanly and clearly. There is emphasis in their movement- true energy and effort.
Good

The student remembers most of the choreography- sometimes forgets the sequence, but remembers the steps.
On level

The student almost has the choreography memorized but is still missing one or two steps when demonstrating the combination.
Moderate

The student has some idea of the sequence but when demonstrating is still missing more than half of the steps.
Basic

The student cannot demonstrate the sequence or steps.
Rhythm

Exceeds Expectaions

The student keeps time with the music the whole time.
Good

The student is on the beat most of the time, can correct it when erratic.
On level

The student moves to a consistent beat, but not on the right time.
Moderate

student is keeping an inconsistent beat.
Basic

The student is dancing over the music and is never aware of the beat; movements are erratically timed.
Style

Exceeds Expectaions

The student is immersed into the steps and or the music with a great deal of energy and focus. They smile and make different facial expressions the whole time.
Good

The student is able to convey a sense of their own interpretation of the music through dancing. They smile at the audience.
On level

The student has moments where they appear comfortable enough to add in some style. They smile once or twice.
Moderate

The student adds minimal style to the phrasing. They never smile.
Basic

The student is looking at other dancers or own feet as they perform the steps. There is no connection with the audience. They never smile.

The student does not make a mistake.
Good

The student corrects the mistake as they make it, without falling behind on the steps or beat.
On level

The student repeats the entire sequence to correct the mistakes.
Moderate

The student tries to correct a mistake but makes another mistake.
Basic

The student does not notice any mistakes.

Exceeds Expectaions

Student was prepare with shirt, pants, dance shoes, and hat.
Good

Student was Missing one of the items: shirt, pants, dance shoes, and hat.
On level

Student was Missing two of the items: shirt, pants, dance shoes, and hat.
Moderate

Student was Missing three of the items: shirt, pants, dance shoes, and hat.
Basic

Student did not have his or her costume ready for approval.
