Partnering Salsa/Bachata Learned Choreography Performance Rubric Students will be assessed on performance of salsa and bachata step with a partner. Rubric Code: UC8788 By lbrindley Draft Public Rubric Subject: Dance Type: Assessment Grade Levels: 9-12

Partnering
	Needs Improvement 1 pts	Almost There 2 pts	Got it! 3 pts	Above and Beyond 4 pts
Salsa Step	Needs Improvement Most of the time dancer was lost in the step, may not have shifted weight in steps, and did not work well with a partner.	Almost There Dancer made effort to get the steps and shift their weight. Dancer did not quite get the 3 steps right, may have added unnecessary steps or missed steps. Dancer did put effort into working with their partner.	Got it! Dancer did really well with their partner, and for most of the salsa steps they shifted their weight correctly. May have missed one or two steps while performing.	Above and Beyond Dancer not only performed salsa correctly with their weight shifts, but also was able to add appropriate hip and shoulder movements that compliment the salsa step.
Bachata	Needs Improvement Most of the time dancer was lost in the step, may not have shifted weight in steps, and did not work well with a partner.	Almost There Dancer made effort to get the steps and shift their weight. Dancer did not quite get the step-step-tap right, may have added unnecessary steps or missed steps. Dancer did put effort into working with their partner	Got it! Dancer did really well with their partner, and for most of the bachata steps they shifted their weight correctly. May have missed one or two steps while performing.	Above and Beyond Dancer not only performed bachata correctly with their weight shifts, but also was able to add appropriate hip and shoulder movements that compliment the salsa step.
Timing	Needs Improvement Dancer was not on time/in rhythm with the music.	Almost There Dancer attempted to stay on rhythm and time, but did fall off more than once.	Got it! Dancer was mostly on rhythm and time, may have fallen off once or been a beat behind.	Above and Beyond Dancer was completely on time/in rhythm with the music.
