Overall Composition 15 points possible	Novice The composition feels unfinished and has a lot of empty space.	Fair The composition has small objects and needs more to fill the space.	Good The composition is visually well balanced.	Excellent The composition fills the picture plane in an interesting way using the negative space as part of the composition. The composition holds the eye.
Value Range 30 points possible	Novice Drawing includes one value	Fair Drawing demonstrates some understanding of value and includes two values.	Good Drawing demonstrates understanding of value and includes approximately 3 to 4 values from light to dark.
