Dance Warm Up 
Create a continuous movement dance warm up. Remember your warm up aims to: *raise internal body temperature *increase heart rate and blood flow to muscles *mobilize joints *raise speed of transmission of nerve impulses *prepare mentally and physically for dance Include a cardio portion and a stretch portion. Your warm up must be set to music and be approx 15 minutes long. Be creative!

Poor

Movement isn't continuous or gradual. Cardio portion fails to raise body temperature. Music doesn't fit.

Cardio portion wasn't long enough to keep heart rate raised. Music was not the best.

Continuous simple rhythmic movements gradually increasing in intensity to raise body temperature 1-2 degrees. Increase heart rate and blood flow. Music fits the cardiovascular activity. Creative and original movements.
Joint Mobilization

Poor

Did not include isolations/standing stretches.
Fair

The whole body was not included in standing stretches/isolations.
Good

Mobilization of the joints. Gradually increasing the range of motion. Isolations and static stretches using the major muscles groups holding for 10 secs.
Static Stretch

Poor

No seated stretches performed. Didn't hold for long enough or bounced in positions.
Fair

Seated stretches were unevenly done. Didn't include all muscle groups.
Good

Gentle static stretching of major muscle groups. Holding for 10+ secs without bouncing.
Warm Up Presentation

Poor

Did not have warm up memorized. Did not teach other dancers. Did not demonstrate full out.

Full out demonstration but little teaching of other dancers and may not have full knowledge of warm up
Good

Knowledge of your warm up. Teach other dancers while demonstrating. Demonstrating to the best of your ability.
Written Warm Up

Poor

Sections of the written work are missing (description, picture, or muscle group). Did not include the full body.
Fair

All sections are present but may have some errors. Includes most of the body.
Good

Stretches written in chronological order. Pictures are clear examples of the stretch. Correct muscles are listed. Whole body is included in the stretch.
