Listening/Engagement

Shows they listen to instructions through body language cues.

Poor

Doesn't listen to instruction, shows no signs of being engaged. talks when others are talking or distracts other peers.
limited

Nods once or twice to a few points being discussed. Gets distracted by other students, needs to pay more attention.
Moderate

Listens to the speaker, nods a couple of times, but doesn't really make eye contact with the speaker, but is listening to what is being said.
Good

Listens to instruction, nodding a couple of times and showing eye contact most the time. could still work on showing more interest and perhaps opening up the posture.
Excellent

Listens intently to instruction using body language cues such as nodding, eye contact and having an open posture. Also keeping quiet when someone is talking.
Attitude/Effort

demonstrates a positive attitude to the task.

Poor

Complains about the activity, makes excuses as to why they don't want to do the task, don't participate, gives up if they don't get it the first time.

does the task, doesn't show much interest, complains but continues.

does all the tasks, works at a decent level throughout the task, gives up towards the end.

has a positive attitude, does all the tasks, works hard, keeps trying the whole time.
Excellent

positive attitude to the tasks, wants to participate, asks questions, keeps trying, works hard the whole time, doesn't discourage other students.

acts inappropriately, uses bad language, doesn't work with peers, has a bad attitude, distracts and disrupts other students, doesn't follow instructions.

acts appropriately, uses manners, follows instruction.
Excellent

follows instruction, acts appropriately, uses good manners, is nice to peers, cooperates, follows instruction.

gets involved in both the task and discussion.

Poor

doesn't join in, makes excuses, doesn't join in with discussions.

joins in with activities but doesn't try very hard or acts like they don't care.
Moderate

participates most the time, needs to be a bit more involved though.

participates well in classes/activities, shares ideas.
Excellent

actively participates all the time, always wants to help, will join in the discussions and share ideas
