Knowledge of Choreography

Memory of the routine and execution of the moves looks true to the moves that were choreographed.

Level 4

Demonstrates excellent knowledge of the choreography
and does it well.
Level 3

Demonstrates good knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Few errors, however it does not interfere with performance.
Level 2

Demonstrates knowledge of choreography. Keeps up with group. Some errors(3-5 errors) causing brief pause in performance.
Level 1

Demonstrates some knowledge of choreography, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes several errors
Technical skills

Pointing toes, back straight, arm placement is not sloppy, moves are executed smoothly.

Level 4

Dance performed with great attention to quality of movement, body position, placement on stage and other details of dance. Also demonstrates an excellent understanding of dance style.
Level 3

Dance performed with attention to details of technique, has attained proficiency in dance style.
Level 2

Dance performed with attention to most details of technique, but hasn't attained proficiency in dance style yet. Some technical errors.
Level 1

Only some understanding of technical elements (ie. footwork, quality of movements, body positions) demonstrated in performance.
Performance Skills

Projection of eye contact and appropriate facial expressions with the audience. The dancer is confident with movements.

Level 4

The dancer draws the audience in to want to watch them and is able to engage the audience completely through their performance. A true joy to watch!
Level 3

The dancer communicates with audience through eye contact and facial and body expression. Is able to engage the audience.
Level 2

The dancer communicates with audience through eye contact and facial and body expression. Occasionally loses focus.
Level 1

The dancer is generally focused, but only some attempt made to grab attention of the audience with eye contact and good facial expression.
Choreography

Tells the story of a selection of the ballet effectively and includes the required 4 pieces of technique in their choreography.

Level 4

Creates a believable story of the ballet from start to finish so that all roles are accurately portrayed and all required technique is included in the composition.
Level 3

The story is clear to the audience and roles are able to be identified through the performance. All required technique is included in the composition.
Level 2

Most of the story is understood, however there are a few parts that need further clarification. Most of the required technique is included.
Level 1

Some elements of the story are confusing and require clarity in order to understand the roles and story. Only a few pieces of required technique are included in the composition.
