DANCE RUBRIC: Students must be in groups of 8 or less. Students must create moves to at least 2 1/2 minutes of music and present to class at the end of the unit. MAJOR GRADE>

Remembers a few of the steps/ movements and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others. Unprepared.

Demonstrates some knowledge of dancesteps and moves, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes some errors.
Good

Demonstrates good knowledge of dancestpes and moves. Keeps up with group. Few errors.
Excellent

Demonstrates excellent knowledge of all the dance steps and moves
and performs them well.
On task - learning new skills

Being on task at all times during class time, trying new steps and practicing them with group members to ensure learned.

Unsatisfactory

The student does not always try new dance moves and does not always attempt or practice them on own when asked- sits and talks instead.
Needs Improvement

Sometimes tries new dance steps and sometimes practices on their own during class time. Sometimes sits and talks instead.
Good

Tries new dance steps. Usually practices with their group members. May be off task at some points.
Excellent

Always tries new moves Always practices to learn with their group members. Actively engaged during the entire class period.

The dancer performs with full confidence. They perform with enthusiasm.
Rhythm/Tempo

Overall rhythm and tempo and ability to keep the beat to the music.

Unsatisfactory

Attempts to keep a rhythm, but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat in music.
Needs Improvement

Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or speeds up in places or makes errors in rhythm.
Good

Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences most of the time.
Excellent

Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythmn throughout the dance.
Cooperation in Group Choreography

How does the student work with others in a group to create choreography.

Unsatisfactory

Little effort made to contribute to success of group. Is not attentive to others, or distracts others during performance. Not prepared.
Needs Improvement

Cooperative most of time, but not attentive or well prepared to perform.
Good

Cooperative with other performers and ready to perform.
Excellent

Always respects and shows consideration for other performers. Prepared, well- rehearsed and attentive. Fun to watch!
