World Dance Unit: Personal Research
Dance students will research a chosen dance from our world dance unit, present an introduction to the dance (minimum 3 pages typed double space), perform a minimum of 30 seconds in front of the class, and teach at least three steps/moves to the class.

Level 1
The dancer DOES NOT give a description of title of the dance, what country it is from, the history of the dance, why it is performed, what type of music is used, and what the dancers wear in the dance.
Level 2
The dancer gives a BASIC description of title of the dance, what country it is from, the history of the dance, what type of music is used, and why it is performed and what the dancers wear in the dance.
Level 3
The dancer gives a CLEAR description of title of the dance, what country it is from, the history of the dance, why it is performed, what type of music is used, and what the dancers wear in the dance.
Level 4
The dancer gives a CLEAR description of title of the dance, what country it is from, the history of the dance, why it is performed, what type of music is used, and what the dancers wear in the dance and also provides pictures or visuals.
Performance Quality
Level 1
The dancer DOES NOT perform with expression, energy, and sound technique.
Level 2
The dancer SOMETIMES performs with expression, energy, and sound technique.
Level 3
The dancer USUALLY always performs with expression, energy, and sound technique.
Level 4
The dancer ALWAYS performs with expression, energy, and sound technique.
Knowledge of steps
Level 1
The dancer was not well-prepared, DID NOT appear to know all of the routine, and could not teach the steps to the rest of the class.
Level 2
The dancer SOMETIMES seemed well-prepared, knew some of the routine, and could teach one or two steps to the class.
Level 3
The dancer was well- prepared, knew the routine, and could teach at least three steps to the class.
Level 4
The dancer was EXTREMELY well- prepared, knew the routine, could teach at least three steps to the class, and included cues on dynamics and emotional expression.
