Student did not clearly demonstrate knowledge or understanding of Elements of Art. Drawings do not clearly depict the chosen Element of Art.
1 (Needs Improvement)

Student did not demonstrate knowledge of Elements of Art. Student does not have all the Elements of Art listed, or has extra words listed. Student's drawings do not depict the Elements of Art.
Creativity

Selectively utilize the physical characteristics and expressive features of a given medium to enhance meaning in artwork.

4 (Exceeds Standard)

Student created a highly creative work of art. Student obviously spent time working on project. Student put thought into selecting the best materials and medium for each Element of Art.
3 (Meets Standard)

Student worked up to his/her own abilities. Student followed directions and created a book depicting the Elements of Art.
2 (Emerging)

Student did not work to his/her potential. Student did not take time to make the project look like the best s/he could do. Book may have sloppy pages or a lot of blank space.
1 (Needs Improvement)

Book is unfinished or damaged. Student did not work to his/her potential. Student put forth very little effort in creating the book. Book construction is messy and needs work.

Demonstrate safe and proper use, care, and storage of media, materials, and equipment.

Student took care of project. Student cleaned up and took care of materials even without being asked. Student helped clean up other students' messes.
