Basketball Dribbling rubric

This rubric will help to grade skill level of students in the hand dribble. To achieve a skill number, students must demonstrate all of the skill in that scoring level. Emphasis is on the process and mechanics of the sports skill and not the end product

	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
EYES UP	Poor Student is looking at the ball the entire time when dribbling and never looks up	Fair Students head is down and she is looking at the ball most of the time	Good Student head is up most of the time when dribbling the ball	Excellent Students head is up all the time
KNEES BENT	Poor Students stands straight up	Fair Students knees slightly bent	Good Students knees bent, but occasionally standing up.	Excellent Students knees bent all of the time while dribbling
USE OF FINGERTIPS	Poor Students does not use fingertips	Fair Students uses a combination of fingertips and palm	Good Students uses fingertips, but occasionally uses the palm of hand	Excellent Students uses only the fingertips at all times
BALL HEIGHT AND CONTROL	Poor Ball is dribbled too high or too low, with limited control	Fair Ball is dribbled too high or too low, with some control	Good Ball is dribbled at or just below the waist, usually with control	Excellent Ball is dribbled at or just below the waist at all times and with control
