Chronically late, not ready to work, doesn't follow directions for entering room. Must be told to get a tardy pass

Often late for class, occasionally gets tardy past before entering classroom. Frequently needs to be reminded to start work.

Student arrives to class on time however does not consistently follow protocol for entering the room and frequently needs to be directed to sit down and get to work.
Good

Student arrives to class on time following the protocols for entering the room, promptly gets to work and ask questions for clarification when needed.
Excellent

Student follows all protocols and directives. Is frequently one of the first in the room seated and working when others arrive. Makes a conscious effort of setting an example for others and acts as a mentor for other students.
Work habits
10 %

Unacceptable

No work habits observed. Student is unprepared and shows little interest.
Poor

Little self-motivation. Student needs to be reminded to start daily class assignments and frequently needs redirection or behavior intervention.
Fair

Student follows protocol for entering the room. Frequently needs to be reminded to start the daily assignments and at times needs to be redirected to get back on task.
Good

Student makes a point of understanding the days assignment. Student is thorough and helpful offering guidance to other classmates that may need assistance.
Excellent

Work habits are excellent demonstrating self-motivation and a dynamic attitude that consistently strives to push past all expectations and create something unique. Student takes a proactive role in helping classmates.
Participation
25 %

Unacceptable

Student refuses to participate even when called upon. Openly defiant refusing to follow instructions.
Poor

Participation is infrequent and not pertinent to the topic being discussed. Student shows little or no interest in contributing something positive to the classroom.
Fair

Student participates infrequently but usually is on topic. Sometimes has trouble accepting other views or constructive criticism.
Good

Student is prepared and actively participates in class discussions. Frequently poses excellent questions and offers information or insight that adds to the discussion pushing it to a higher level of knowledge.
Excellent

Student is consistently prepared and participates in all class discussions. Student is motivated, inquisitive, and demonstrates critical thinking consistently. Student generates discussion topics by using these qualities.
Completeness of work
15 %

Unacceptable

No interest in finishing work. Very little attempt made to understand assignments, ask questions, or take responsibility for their own inaction.
Poor

Student rarely finishes work. Student frequently requests to makeup assignments in order to improve their grade.
Fair

Student does what is required.
Good

Student consistently takes their work to the next level frequently adding something to the assignments that create a personal signature.
Excellent

Student takes their work to the next level. The students commitment to excellence and enthusiasm towards the class and learning inspires others.
Dress code
5 %

Unacceptable

Out of dress code, multiple fingernail or fake fingernail violations. Sagging pants, disrespecting the uniform, refusal to wear the uniform.
Poor

Consistent dress code violations, sagging pants, excessive jewelry, request for special treatment due to fingernail issues.
Fair

Student follows dress code expectations at times pushing the envelope. Accepts redirection and makes an effort to not repeat the same mistake.
Good

Student follows the dress code and attempts to improve throughout the semester.
Excellent

Student has fully embraced the dress code by recognizing the impact it has on others as well as themselves. They carry themselves with confidence and poise.
Influence - positive/negative
35 %

Unacceptable

Actively engages other students in disruptive behavior and tries to negatively influence other class members.
Poor

Has a tendency to engage other students and disruptive behavior. Encourages other students to participate in activities or loud conversations that distract other students.
Fair

Students influence is neither positive or negative. By all accounts would be considered a good student in most classrooms.
Good

Student is a positive influence. Willing to assist peers when needed fostering a more dynamic learning environment. Student has started to take the role of a leader showing both responsibility and accountability. It's
Excellent

Student is a positive influence that has the ability to change the views and direction of his/hers peers. The student uses their ability and talent for influence by participating in service-based learning enhancing home, school, and community environments.
