The student successfully applied the pastel technique. The pastel was applied in a layered and textural manner and used "families" of color- 3 or more of the same color for each area.

The student did a fairly good job applying the pastel technique. The pastel is layered and applied in a textural manner in most areas, however, there may be a few areas that need work. May have used 2-3 colors for each area.

The student had some difficulty applying the pastel technique. The application of pastel is not textural in many areas. There are a lot of areas colored in a solid color- 1-2 colors are present for each area.

The student failed to apply the pastel technique correctly. The pastel is not layered and no pastel strokes can be seen. There are a lot of areas colored in a solid color- no families of color are present.
