Sanitation	Exemplary Sanitation was maintained to advanced State Board expectations.	Proficient Station was sanitary and set up was clean.	Needs Improvement Station was partially clean.	Unacceptable Station was unsanitary and set up was unclean.
Guide	Exemplary Guide was perfectly straight and consistent through out the entire haircut.	Proficient Student uses established guides.	Needs Improvement Student uses guidelines through most of haircut.	Unacceptable Student did not use established guides.
Shears	Exemplary Students handling of shears was at a mastered level.	Proficient Student handled shears safely at all times.	Needs Improvement Student had to be reminded at least one time to handle shears safely.	Unacceptable Student did not handle shears safely at all times.
Sides	Exemplary Sides were cut with consistent partings, angle, and frames the face at a mastered level.	Proficient Student cuts sides uniform in length.	Needs Improvement Student has longer strands of hair on one side of cut.	Unacceptable Student does not cut sides uniform in length.
Safety	Exemplary Student used safety measures that were advanced and met the State Board requirement consistently	Proficient Student maintains safe work area at all times.	Needs Improvement Student maintains a safe work area partially throughout the haircut.	Unacceptable Student does not maintain safe work area.
Overall Haircut	Exemplary 45 degree haircut was mastered.	Proficient Student performed most of the the 45 degree haircut correctly on their mannequin.	Needs Improvement Student maintained the basic steps of the 45 degree haircut but had some areas of the haircut that need to be corrected.	Unacceptable Student performed all aspects of the haircut incorrectly.
Clean up	Exemplary Hair was swept from floor, station was wiped down, and 1 or more clean up procedures were done as extra help.	Proficient Student swept hair from floor and wiped down station.	Needs Improvement Student leaves some hair on floor.	Unacceptable Student does not sweep hair from floor.
