Introduction

Identify culture assigned. Describe the values, beliefs, and health practices of that culture. Differentiate between the specific culture and the health care providers culture.

Excellent

Student demonstrates full knowledge of culture. Information is relevant. Able to answer questions with elaboration. Demonstrates adequate ability to compare and contrast.
Good

Student is at ease with information being presented. Most information is relevant. Able to answer questions; unable to elaborate. Minimum ability to compare and contrast.
Fair

Student is uncomfortable with information being presented. Able to answer basic questions only. Some information is irrelevant. Unable to compare and contrast.
Poor

Student does not have grasp of information being presented. Cannot answer questions. Information is incomplete or inaccurate. No attempt to compare and contrast.
Affective Domain

Explain cultural considerations related to patient care. Include importance of sensitivity, health & illness behaviors, perception of illness/disease, religion, decision making, death, & interpersonal relationships. Provide examples of any type of controversial issues or stereotypes.

Concepts are unclear and not thoroughly expressed. Able to answer basic questions only. Some information is irrelevant. Does not acknowledge sensitivity towards diversity.

Cognitive Domain

Develop a care plan related to the patient's cultural need. Provide a nursing diagnosis, goal, intervention/instruction, rationale and evaluation for culturally specific care. For example: language barriers, diet, biological variations, etc.

Audience has difficulty following presentation because student jumps around. Occasionally uses eye contact. Reads most of report. Presentation is incomplete-few important aspects are addressed. 3 or more grammatical errors. Stays within defined time frame.
Poor

Audience cannot understand presentation because there is o sequence of information. No eye contact. Reads all of report. Most important aspects are not addressed. 4 or more grammatical errors. Goes outside of allotted time frame.
Resources/Reference List

Use of at least 5 current resources. (<5 years old.) APA format. References emailed to class and hard copy provided to instructor.

All sources properly cited in presentation and reference list. Fewer then 3 errors in format or punctuation. Copies of references provided as requested.

All sources properly cited in paper and reference list. Fewer then 5 errors in format or punctuation. Copies of references provided as requested.
