6th grade evaluation on fundementals of soccer. Students are rated and scored on the mechanics of the skills below. Students are scored at 12 possible points. Scoring in the Advanced range gains extra credit.

Lacks any speed due to lack of control.

Needs to work on speed, control is improving with use of both feet and striking the ball on the inside of foot.

Excellent ball control and body positioning, ball in control and all cones completed properly.
Advanced

Prior knowledge and experience gives student an advantage. The skills are completed smoothly and consistently. Ball remains close to cones to gain speed upon completion.
Trapping the ball

Needs Improvement

Does not attempt to trap the ball, no contact or lacks a soft contact causing the ball to bounce away preventing control.
Developing

Needs to improve the contact by moving slightly away to prevent the ball from rebounding away from the body.
Proficient

Absorb the ball and soften the contact by moving slightly away on contact. Keeps the ball close, within one foot after trap.
Advanced

Prior knowledge and experience gives student an advantage.
Traps occur fast and without much effort.
Ball kick

Needs Improvement

Does not attempt to kick ball with inside of foot, opposite foot from kicking foot is not next to the ball, arms and legs not in opposition.
Developing

Needs to work on kicking from inside of foot or top. Kickball kicks from the front toe-lacks controlled kicks.
Proficient

Non kicking foot is next to the ball.
Kicking foot contacts ball on the inside of foot for short kicks, top of foot extended for long kicks.
Advanced

Prior knowledge and experience gives student an advantage.
Kicks occur quickly, and without much effort.
Kicking to a set target

Needs Improvement

Student kicks successfully to set target
less than 5 out of 10 attempts.
Developing

Student kicks successfully to set target
6 or 7 attempts out of 10 attempts.
Proficient

Student kicks successfully to set target 8 out of 10 attempts.
Advanced

Student kicks successfully to set target 9 or 10 out of 10 attempts.
